Chris Tucker Bio

Christopher Tucker was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on 31 August 1972 and is the youngest son of Mary Louise and independent businessman Norris Tucker. He was raised in Georgia and after graduating from Columbia High School, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in comedy and acting. At the age of 19, Tucker made regular appearances on ‘Def Comedy Jam’ before making his cinema debut in ‘House Party 3’ in 1994. He had previously appeared in the TV series ‘Hangin’ With Mr Cooper’. Tucker then played bit parts in ‘Friday’ (1995), ‘Panther’ (1995) and ‘Dead Presidents’ (1995) before making his breakthrough playing the camp Ruby Rhod in sci-fi film ‘The Fifth Element’ with Bruce Willis and Mila Jovovich in 1997. Following this, he appeared in ‘Money Talks’ and ‘Jackie Brown’ in 1997. His son Destin Christopher Tucker was born in 1998 and lives with his mother in LA. Next came Tucker’s big break in the film ‘Rush Hour’ in 1998 in which his cop character teams up with another detective, played by Jackie Chan, to find a kidnapped girl. The two co-stars are still good friends to this day. They both starred in ‘Rush Hour 2’ in 2001 and ‘Rush Hour 3’ in 2007. Tucker was also close friends with Michael Jackson, appearing in his ‘Rock My World’ music video in 2001. He returned to film in 2012 when he appeared in ‘The Silver Linings Playbook’ with Bradley Cooper, Julia Stiles and Robert De Niro.
